FAQs
OSHA requires that employers make handwashing available to employees on jobsites. Manufacturers in our industry provide equipment that is designed for a maximum number of uses. Based on manufacturer's specifications for water and waste capacity, we recommend 1 sinks is ordered for every 2 portable toilets. We also recommend that adequate trash cans are placed on site for disposal of paper towels and so that trash is not placed on the handwashing equipment.
At events, many local ordinances require an event have handwashing equipment on site. Some local ordinances require handwashing equipment for food booths in addition to the restroom area. Our recommendation is to have 1 sink per 2 toilets on site in addition to 1 sink for every 2 food preparation booths in a festival environment.
Handwashing with soap and water is recommended by OSHA and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Hand sanitizers are also an excellent way to kill germs after using the restroom. However, keep in mind at an event a Hand Sanitizer will not help clean your hands after eating food. At a jobsite, a Hand Sanitizer will not help remove dirt from your hands the way a portable sink will.
